And I don’t think you can take a bike on the ferries. I wish we had researched FI before we left! Contrary to what some posts reported, you cannot ride a bike from the parking lots to any of the FI towns. ![]() We were disappointed to find that the only way to reach the lighthouse from Field 5 was a 1 mile walk, and the nearest town, Kismet, was 0.7 miles further, so about a 3.5 mile round trip from the nearest parking lot, Field 5. Each of the 5 Fields has concessions and bathrooms plus, of course, beach access. Back-country camping is also available within the Otis Pike Fire Island High Dune Wilderness. All ages can come participate, generally about ages 4 to 90. Each year, thousands of people come to enjoy the island's white sand beaches and seaside communities, as well as the rich variety of coastal wildlife amid the surf and.
